Hello! My name is Kari Slade, I am an Independent Registered Dental Hygienist, and the President of Kari Panting Slade Dental Hygiene Professional Corporation. I have owned and operated Something To Smile About since 2020.
I am originally from Brampton, and moved to Brantford in 2015. I have been practicing Dental hygiene for nearly 15 years! For the last 5 years I have been working in pediatric dentistry, as well as general practice. I have a strong passion for working with children and special needs clients; and preventive based, patient focused, care.
During COVID lockdown, I decided to pursue continuing my education in a long standing interest of mine - helping individuals with jaw pain and teeth grinding. Very quickly this lead me to discover Myofunctional Therapy.
It was like a light bulb went off! This was clearly the missing link in oral health services I had been searching for. Finally, something to offer to my patients who have tongue ties, tongue thrusts, teeth grinding, jaw pain, orthodontic relapse, and so many other symptoms we had been treating, to finally be able to help correct the cause!
Once I entered the world of Independent practice I was hooked! The opportunity to meet clients where they are at, and provide the highest quality of care, has quickly become my life’s passion!
In Spring of 2021, I was thrilled to expand my business, with the introduction of custom tray fabrication (sports guards and bleaching trays.) Yet another way to customize the Dental Hygiene experience, by offering on-site (mobile) services!
Kari Panting Slade Dental Hygiene Professional Corporation began operation as Something To Smile About in 2021, streamlining the journey towards increasing access to care at the community level, and providing a holistic approach to dental hygiene care.
